Domestic sector accounts for almost 50% of energy consumption in Delhi and lighting is a key
component of the same. In order to promote the use of LEDs in household sector and reduce the energy
consumption, EESL in consultation with BSES Rajdhani, BSES Yamuna, Tata Power Delhi Distribution
Limited (TPDDL) and Government of Delhi, has proposed to implement the DELP (Demand Side
Management based Efficient Lighting Programme) programme in Delhi. LED based household lights
could reduce energy consumption by 88% (as compared to ordinary bulb) and 50% (as compared to
CFLs). DELP promotes the usage of LEDs at a minimal cost and is designed to monetize the energy
consumption reduction for the domestic consumers.
Under this Project COMTECH was enlisted as Coordinating Agency for Distribution of LED Bulbs in Four Districts of Rajasthan and distributed 6 Lakh LED Bulbs in a time period of 3 Months.
